About Canby, OR
Canby is a city in Oregon that sits along Route 99E, just 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Barlow. The population was 15 829 at the 2010 census; making it one of Oregon’s most populous towns outside Portland.
Canby, Oregon is a small town that was originally inhabited by Native Americans. The general who led his men into battle against them was named Edward Richard Sprigg Canby after he had been killed in another conflict near Modoc Peak which also encompassed part of what would become known as Baker Prairie when it became established early on for itself during 1857; however this area wasn’t permanently settled until 1870 following construction of two hotels – one being called The Black Bear Hotel because its footprint outline looked like someone holding onto their left arm while running forward!
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.79 square miles (9.82 km2), of which 3.75 square miles (9.71 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) is water.
